Executive Support Branch
The Executive Support Branch's (ESB) mission is to provide a variety of executive support services to the Immediate Offices of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense and the DoD Executive Secretary. ESB manages pending Secretary and Deputy Secretary correspondence actions. This branch reviews Info Memos and Action Memos to ensure it meets the guidelines in DoD 5110.4-M, Manual for Written Material.

Records & Logistics Branch
The Records and Logistics Branch's (RLB) mission is to provide the Offices of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense with correspondence and mail service. RLB is responsible for the orderly and systematic control, digitization, and safeguarding of paper and digital copies of official correspondence for the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense and the DoD Executive Secretariat, including the preparation and maintenance of the official digital correspondence library (Chronicle of Tenure).
RLB also manages an Image Capture Section as well as the Mail Distribution Center. This branch is responsible for managing digital correspondence tasks, information sharing, website development, and information technology management. RLB conducts business process engineering studies and performs functional and system analysis. Additionally, RLB is tasked with continued development and implementation of new and revised information sharing capabilities affecting OSD Components and Defense Agencies.
Correspondence Analysis Branch
The Correspondence Analysis Branch’s (CAB) mission is to provide the Offices of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense with correspondence control, dispatch, and tasking services. CAB also provides suspense management support for the Offices of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense via the Suspense Desk.
CAB controls, tasks, and distributes incoming correspondence from DoD, the White House, Congress, outside agencies, foreign governments, and others. CAB dispatches Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Executive Secretary correspondence and maintains an accountable record of delivery. CAB also provides White House Liaison support to the Offices of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense.
Classified Support Branch
The Classified Support Branch’s (CSB) mission is to provide the Offices of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense with classified correspondence and document services to include processing and tasking of Sensitive Compartmented Information items, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NAT0) items, and Alternative Compensatory Control Measure (ACCM) items.
Service does not include Special Access Program (SAP). SAP items will be processed by the OSD Special Programs Offices.
CSB also provides courier service every hour to the Offices of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense and the DoD Executive Secretary.
Defense Post Office
The Defense Post Office (DPO) is designated as the official delivery and pick-up point for official mail within the Pentagon. The DPO currently supports the Pentagon and its tenant activities by providing for the receipt, distribution, and dispatch of all mail and packages delivered by the USPS.
DPO customers include employees and commercial vendors in the Pentagon and locations at the Mark Center, Taylor Building, Polk Building and Crystal City.
DPO is an entity in the Executive Services Directorate managed by the Correspondence Management Division.
