TITLE:  DoD Directive 1315.17, "Military Department Foreign Area Officer (FAO) Programs", April 28, 2005

SUMMARY:   Under Section 163 of title 10, United States Code, this Directive:

• Reissues DoD Directive 1315.17 dated February 22, 1997 to update policies and responsibilities governing Foreign Area Officer (FAO) programs in the Military Departments.  
• Changes proponency from the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (USD(P)), to the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)).
