Tutorials and Other Guidance for Submitting Documents to DTIC

General Information

• Brochure - Submitting Technical Reports (TR)
  A brochure which provides general information on DTIC's Technical Reports submission process, to include: the benefits associated with submitting, the kinds of information and information formats DTIC selects and Points-of-Contacts for submitting data to DTIC.
  

• Cataloging, Abstracting and Indexing Guidelines
  This publication outlines basic guidelines for descriptive and subject cataloging of scientific and technical information resources collected by the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC). It is arranged by Technical Report (TR) data element Field number, followed by alphabetical indexes. Each Field entry contains the title, maximum number of characters allowed, definition, purpose, chief source(s) of information and form(s) of entry.
  

• Presentation - DTIC Overview and Submitting Documents to DTIC
  A presentation which provides an overview of DTIC's mission, the benefits of DTIC's services, provides examples of DTIC's products, explains the Research Development Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) cycle and guidelines for submitting documents to DTIC.
  
  

Document Preparation - Report Cover, Markings and SF-298

• Standard - ANSI/NISO Z39.18-2005, Scientific and Technical Reports - Preparation, Presentation, and Preservation
  This Standard outlines the elements, organization, and design of scientific and technical reports, including guidance for uniform presentation of front and back matter, text, and visual and tabular matter in print and digital formats, as well as recommendations for multimedia reports.
  

• Presentation - Interim & Final Reports Preparation & Submission
  A presentation which provides a tutorial for preparing a document cover and SF-298, Report Documentation Page, for Interim and Final reports. Information includes distribution statement format, Data Rights, Export Control and other markings, as well as detailed instruction for completing the SF-298.

• Fact Sheet - Interim & Final Report Preparation & Submission
  A two-page (front & back) flyer summarizing the information contained in the "Interim & Final Report Preparation & Submission" presentation/tutorial, listed above.

• Presentation - SBIR/STTR Final Reports Preparation & Submission
  A presentation which provides a tutorial for preparing a document cover and SF-298, Report Documentation Page, for SBIR/STTR Interim and Final reports. Information includes distribution statement format, SBIR Data Rights, Export Control and other document markings, as well as detailed instruction for completing the SF-298.

• FAQ - CENDI Frequently Asked Questions About Copyright
  Prepared by the CENDI Working Group, which addresses the issue of copyright from an operations perspective.

• Presentation - Journal Articles: Managing Preprint, Reprints and Copyrights
  Examines author/publisher agreements and government data rights in journal articles and provides DTIC's guidelines for submitting various versions produced during the publication process.
