DTIC® Training Schedules

The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) provides free training to REGISTERED DTIC users at its Fort Belvoir, Virginia headquarters and by webinars (DTIC Search, DoDTechipedia and DoDTechSpace) hosted via DCS (Defense Collaboration Services ). Additionally, customized and on-site courses can be provided outside the DC metro area upon request if travel expenses are paid by the hosting organization.

The training curriculum includes instruction for DTIC's access controlled products available in the R&E Gateway (DTIC Search, DoDTechipedia, and DoDTechSpace) and for the DoD Scientific and Technical Information (STINFO) program manager and marking documents for distribution.

Note: DTIC offers monthly webinars via the DCS to reach customers outside the Washington DC area. All webinars are Eastern Time.

Follow these steps to check your status or register with DTIC at this time:
    1. Go to https://www.dtic.mil.
    2. Login with your Common Access Card (CAC) or User ID/Password. If you get to the R&E Gateway, you are registered.
    3. Click on the Online Training Registration link below to select your class(es).

Training Descriptions

    This four-hour hands-on Boot Camp training is held at DTIC Headquarters at Fort Belvoir. Learn all about DoDTechSpace, one of DTIC's collaborative tools with a secure access for researchers, scientists, and engineers. Collaborate with DoD and their contractors, federal government and their contractors and educational institutions with a government contract. See how easy it is to get started and begin managing projects using this tool. Learn how to create groups, share information with geographically dispersed teams, fill out your profile page and find subject matter experts. Take advantage of this hands-on training to master your own approach to DoDTechSpace.

    This 1-day, hands-on Boot Camp training is held at DTIC Headquarters at Fort Belvoir. Learn about the R&E Gateway, DTIC's secure access entry to the DTIC Collections search, enhanced DoDTechipedia (secure wiki) and DoDTechSpace, our collaborative tool for researchers, scientists, and engineers. We also cover submitting documents for the DTIC collection. Take advantage of this full day of training to master your own integrated approach to the Gateway.

    This 1-hour virtual session focuses on DoD's S&T wiki. Learn how to add content, collaborate, and stay aware of continuously updated content in areas of interest to you and your organization.

    DoDTechipedia schedule

    This 1-hour virtual introduction prepares you to engage in dialogue, create content, coordinate projects and connect with colleagues in DTIC's collaborative environment. You will learn how to share information with colleagues, post and attach documents, link to related information, follow progress and interact in this secure environment.

    A 1-hour virtual introduction to DTIC's access controlled search of Science & Technology (S&T) collections with techniques for searching and saving results. Session includes the Technical Report (TR) collection (both DTIC and Information Analysis Center (IAC) documents), Research Projects, and DoDTechSpace Community input. Features include: Refine Search, Content Types, Fielded Searching, DoD Research and Community Tabs, and My Research for Saved/Scheduled Searches and Saved Hits.

    This 1-hour virtual session focuses on Public Access policy and what it means for your organization. Learn what policies affect, what new requirements exist, how to comply, and submission requirements. In addition to the quarterly sessions listed on the Public Access schedule, you may request a one-on-one session or a session for your organization by emailing: dtic.belvoir.ooa.list.publicaccess@mail.mil.

    DoD STINFO Program Manager

      The DoD STINFO Manager Training Program increases attendees' knowledge of the DoD STINFO program, provides instruction for the management and conduct of an organizational STINFO program, and facilitates more direct information exchange among those who oversee scientific and technical information programs (STIP). The Basic STINFO Manager Training Program course is three days, but selected modules can be taught in one- or two-day sessions.

    STINFO Manager Overview

      A one-day overview of the most significant material covered in the three-day class, this is intended as a refresher for experienced STINFO personnel or as an introduction for those new to the field.

    DTIC STINFO Hour

      The DTIC STINFO Hour is a webinar about all things STINFO. Ms. LaDona Kirkland, your DTIC STINFO POC, will cover many different STINFO topics. During the first 30 minutes of the DTIC STINFO Hour, Ms. Kirkland will discuss the topic of the day with slides via Defense Collaboration Services (DCS). The last half of the session, Ms. Kirkland will answer your STINFO questions. Any and all questions about STINFO are welcome. Join her in DCS.
