Honorable Diane Stuart is the Director of the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice, serving as the Department of Justice liaison with Federal and State governments, as well as with international governments, on matters concerning violence against women.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her Master of Science degree in family and human development from Utah State University.  She is the founder and chair of the Federal Interagency Coordinating Board on Violence Against Women.   Prior to her current position, she was the State Coordinator for the Utah Domestic Violence Cabinet Council. She has also served as a Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy Specialist in the Division of Child and Family Services for the State of Utah, and as the Executive Director of the Battered Women's Shelter and Rape Crisis Center in Logan, Utah.     Ms. Stuart is the author of “Domestic Violence Victims and Welfare Services: A Practitioner's View”, which appeared in the publication, Battered Women, Children, and Welfare Reform.  She also recently authored an article for Police Chief magazine on law enforcement's role in dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault.
