This Web Site is designed to provide public information about the Defense Task Force on Sexual Harassment and Violence at the Military Service Academies that was established by the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2004, Public Law 108-136. The Task Force was comprised of 12 members all of whom were appointed by the Secretary of Defense. Six of the members are senior military personnel from the Department of Defense and six members represent subject matter experts from the private sector and Department of Justice. The Task Force assessed the efforts and effectiveness of U. S. Military Academy and the U. S. Naval Academy at preventing and responding to sexual harassment and sexual violence at their schools. The Task Force completed its assessment effective Septemeber 22nd, 2004. A copy of the Task Force’s report is available on this web site under the Report heading listed below. JTF-SAPR serves as the single point of accountability for the Department of Defense on sexual assault policy and is the designated entity for follow-up on this issue.
