Joint Field Activities (JFAs)

Summary:  Since 1996, the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) has conducted 33 JFAs in North Korea that have resulted in the recovery of more than 225 probable U.S. remains; 27 have been identified to date and returned to their families for burial in U.S. soil.  The identification process continues at JPAC’s Central Identification laboratory for those remains that have not yet been identified.

Because the temporary suspension of field operations in North Korea remains in effect, no JFAs are currently scheduled.
