Abstract : The second Goddard workshop on thermosphere dynamics was held at the Ramada Inn in nearby Calverton, Maryland during October 3-5, 1984. Much of the discussion at the workshop involved the measurements from the Dynamics Explorer spacecraft (DE-1 and DE-2) and ground based measurements at radar facilities and optical observatories. Theoretical models were presented which amply attest to our maturing understanding of the processes that govern the structure and dynamics of the Earth's thermosphere. The phenomenology ranged from auroral meteorology to equatorial tides and gravity waves. Some of the discussion was devoted to the thermosphere of Venus. The papers, abstracts, and extended abstracts included in this volume are in alphabetical order by author and cover most of the material that was presented.
