Abstract : Currently, DoD investments in acquisition research represent about one one-thousandth of one percent of the total defense budget, yet we believe they have the potential to lead to considerable savings, both in the near and long term. We see strong evidence that this potential is being realized through the products of the Naval Postgraduate School's Acquisition Research Program (ARP). Our goals remain the same, with recent highlights noted below: 1. Position the ARP in a leadership role to continue to develop the body of knowledge in defense acquisition research. 2. Establish acquisition research as an integral part of policy-making for DoD officials. 3. Create a stream of relevant information concerning the performance of DoD acquisition policies with viable recommendations for continuous process improvement. 5. Collaboration among universities, think tanks, industry and government in acquisition research.
