Abstract : This report establishes and documents the procedures used by the U.S. Geological Survey, Washington Water Science Center, to code and enter ground-water data into the Ground-Water Site Inventory database of the U.S. Geological Survey's Ground Water Site Inventory System. These guidelines are consistent with Version 4.6 of the system, but will be updated as each new version becomes available. This report establishes and documents a formal and consistent set of procedures, practices, and standards for coding and entering ground-water data into the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Washington Water Science Center (WAWSC) Ground-Water Site Inventory (GWSI) database. Some definitions, standards, and practices in this document vary from those in the National Water Information System (NWIS) User's Manual (U.S. Geological Survey, 2005a). However, this report takes precedence over the NWIS User's Manual and is to be used by the WAWSC.
