Abstract : This report reviews the Air Force Herbicide orange monitoring program from 1980 through 1982. Since the ban on the use of herbicides containing 2,4,5 Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid in 1971, the Air Force has conducted a monitoring program at three Herbicide Orange-contaminated sites. This document summarizes studies conducted from 1980 through 1982. Dioxin contaminants found below the soil surface appear to be degrading very slowly, if at all. 2,4,5 Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 2,4 Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid levels have decreased approximately 70 percent since 1981. Recommendations for expansion of the Herbicide Orange Monitoring program are reported.
