Abstract : For the purposes of this study, multi-source image analysis is defined as the utilization of imagery from panchromatic photography, radar and thermal infrared systems for providing military geographic information. The imagery was limited to sets available from a variety of governmental and commercial sources. Effort was made to obtain images from all three sensor systems, but at some test sites only one or two types were utilized. Sensor characteristics were evaluated in relationship to the targets of interest and sensor keys determined. Several useful enhancement techniques were utilized to emphasize feature parameters. Comparison interpretation using all three image types provided valuable complementary target information. (Author)
