Abstract : The various techniques used to drive the Foulness multiton air blast simulator and obtain optimum performance are described. These involve boosting the total energy release of the explosive driver using expanded polystyrene and at the same time, controlling the rate of release. The part played by aqueous foam in minimising irregularities in waveform also is described. (Author)
