Abstract : A review of current enzyme technology and applications was undertaken. Five areas were identified where enzymes may provide solutions to shipboard waste management problems. They are: (1) waste treatment systems, (2) odor control, (3) cleaning operations, (4) oil pollution control, and (5) analytical/monitoring systems. These areas are discussed and recommendations for future research are presented.
