Abstract : Blood flow in the lateral white matter of the spinal cord (segments T7-T11) of monkeys was measured using the hydrogen clearance technique. Sixty-eight measurements were made in seven monkeys with 12 different electrodes. Spinal cord blood flows in these normocapnic, normotensive animals ranged from 13.6 to 21 ml/min per 100 g with an average of 16.84 plus or minus 2.5 (S.E.) ml/min per 100 g. With this technique, accurate repetitive measurements can easily be made in discrete focal areas of tissue of less than 0.5 cu mm volume.
