Abstract : Alterations in the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and/or function of the EGF receptor (EGFR), have been related to GI injury. Bioactive compounds like Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) also appear to have a role in barrier maintenance. A model evaluating the interaction of such compounds in vivo does not exist.
