Abstract : A simple, linear map-matching system is proposed and analyzed. Its adaptability to digital mechanization is investigated from communication and information theoretical point of view. Certain aspects of this scheme are related to the problem of simulating a simple jigsaw puzzle game. More sophisticated and complicated methods are also described and studied. (Author)
