Committee
Members
The Committee
is composed of civilian women and men. Members are selected on the basis
of their experience in the military, as a member of a military family,
or with women's or family-related workforce issues. Members are U.S. citizens,
and are selected without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national
origin, mental or physical disability, age, marital status, or sexual
orientation. Currently serving DoD military and civilian personnel, including
members of the National Guard of the United States or Active Reserves,
are not eligible for nomination or Committee membership.

Representatives
Ex-Officios
to DACOWITS are appointed senior members of the Offices of the Secretary
of Defense and Secretary of Veterans Affairs. They provide program expertise
and specific data on those areas under their cognizance.
Points
of Contact
Points of
Contact are selected by each Service and the Office of the Secretary of
Defense as official representatives of that agency. Length of tenure is
determined by the selecting agency. Although non-voting participants,
official Points of Contact are required to provide on-the-spot information
at the DACOWITS meetings; research and supply facts and data in response
to requests for information; and, assist in clarifying policies and developing
recommendations.
Military
Staff
The DACOWITS
office serves as the official channel through which all activities of
the Committee are coordinated with the military Services and other agencies.
This office keeps the official Points of Contact advised of Committee
activities, meeting dates and the status of current projects; and obtains
their comments and concurrence prior to the development of any new projects
undertaken or sponsored by the Committee.
