Committee Members

The Committee is composed of civilian women and men. Members are selected on the basis of their experience in the military, as a member of a military family, or with women's or family-related workforce issues. Members are U.S. citizens, and are selected without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, mental or physical disability, age, marital status, or sexual orientation. Currently serving DoD military and civilian personnel, including members of the National Guard of the United States or Active Reserves, are not eligible for nomination or Committee membership.

Ex-Officio Representatives

Ex-Officios to DACOWITS are appointed senior members of the Offices of the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Veterans Affairs. They provide program expertise and specific data on those areas under their cognizance.

Points of Contact

Points of Contact are selected by each Service and the Office of the Secretary of Defense as official representatives of that agency. Length of tenure is determined by the selecting agency. Although non-voting participants, official Points of Contact are required to provide on-the-spot information at the DACOWITS meetings; research and supply facts and data in response to requests for information; and, assist in clarifying policies and developing recommendations.

Military Staff

The DACOWITS office serves as the official channel through which all activities of the Committee are coordinated with the military Services and other agencies. This office keeps the official Points of Contact advised of Committee activities, meeting dates and the status of current projects; and obtains their comments and concurrence prior to the development of any new projects undertaken or sponsored by the Committee.
